Macaw: Create text tracks to caption QuickTime video.

Sample Transcript Formatting

As in the sample below, use two carriage returns to separate caption segments. A single carriage return can be used to force the line breaks within a caption segment.

The transcript should be in ASCII (plain text) format. Trial and error will show you how many characters you can fit in one caption. It will depend on the size of the type, the width of the video, and the height of the caption area. Keep in mind that in general, your users will get more characters per segment on Macintosh than on Windows.

USING ROPE TO TIE KNOTS

WAS AN IMPORTANT SKILL

FOR THE LIKES OF SAILORS, SOLDIERS, AND WOODSMEN.

ONE OF THE MORE COMPLICATED LOOKING,

YET USEFUL, KNOTS IS THE HACKAMORE.

THIS KNOT COULD BE USED TO TRANSPORT TOOLS BY THEIR HANDLES OR,

IN A PINCH, USED TO CREATE A TEMPORARY BRIDLE FOR HORSEMEN.

DESPITE ITS COMPLEXITY, LEARNING TO TIE THE HACKAMORE IS NOT DIFFICULT.

THE FIRST STEP IS TO CREATE A LOOP.

THE SECOND STEP IS TO TAKE THE POINT OF THE LOOP TO CREATE TWO LOOPS.

SET ONE LOOP OVER THE OTHER

TO CREATE A SPACE HERE AND HERE.

I'M GOING TO REACH UNDER
AND OVER AND UNDER
AND PULL THIS THROUGH.

UNDER AND OVER AND UNDER,

PULL THIS THROUGH.
